O, Christmas Tree

O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree, Your branches green delight us, O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree, Your branches green delight us. They're green  when summer days are bright; They're green when winter snow is white. O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree, Your branches green delight us.

The decorated fir tree was first used in Germany about the time of Martin Luther. The German words "O Tannenbaum" were set to  a tune and was so well known and loved in America that the tune was used during the Civil War as "Maryland, My Maryland."

O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree, You give us so much pleasure!

  7. You are right in style with your tablecloth. Plaid seems to be everywhere this season and it's a perfect complement for the Spode. Don't you find getting those dishes out is like saying hello to an old friend? We eat on ours almost every night in December.

Wow...your tree is TALL!!!!!!!! Great googly goo, I'd hate to be the one to have to decorate that!!! There isn't a ladder tall enough in this house to tackle that job!!! You did a great job with it!!!

  19. Hi Bonnie,

Well, I'm running behind with my visiting -- yet again. I have meant to leave you a comment for over a week now. This is such a pretty post!! Your Christmas tree is just beautiful, Bonnie! I love the table you've set with the pretty plaid tablecloth. I've seen so many pretty tartan plaids this time of the year, and I never tire of them. Your drinking glasses are pretty, pretty; I've never seen any like them. And I love that you have the cardinal at the top of your little tabletop tree -- what a great idea.

Thanks for sharing your pretty decor with us, and I enjoyed the history of "O Tannenbaum." I hope you are having a joyful Christmas season!

    Hugs,

    Denise
